When you are going to install MyCarTracks Android app Google warns you that the app wants to access some of the dangerous resources on your phone. Some of you may think we want to steal any personal/sensitive data from you. We can assure you that we don’t steal any personal/sensitive data and never will!

We need only some details to be able to provide all the features our app has. When an Android app needs some permissions then it must ask the user to get permission to the whole group – e.g. if we need to be able to save backups of recorded tracks to your phone memory the app must ask for Media permissions where one sub-permission is to access the memory. That doesn’t mean the app will use or somehow steal your media files.

Here is a list of permissions we ask you to allow and why we need them:

LOCATION 
Our app is a GPS tracker so we need access to GPS.

Group: PHONE , Sub: READ_PHONE_STATE
We need this permission because of phone IMEI that is used to filter vehicles. IMEI is not stored in our app, we use it only to compare the filter.
Second need is to know if you’re Online – if internet connection is available.

Group: CONTACTS, Sub: GET_ACCOUNTS
Our app is connected to your Gmail account you have on your phone and to be able to use it we need this permission. We don’t access any of your personal Contacts!

STORAGE 
We need this to make backups on your phone. No Media files, Photos or anything else is accessed on your phone!
